Is the Great Resignation affecting tech companies?

Itโ€™s not your imagination, โ€˜The Great Resignationโ€™ is here and in full effect. A search using Google Trends revealed how popular this search query is right now compared to January 2004. Itโ€™s not pretty.

Are you wondering where Americans are quitting most? This chart is a clue based on Google searches for โ€œGreat Resignationโ€.

Iโ€™ve read a few articles about how this โ€˜Big Quitโ€™ movement has mainly affected the hospitality and tourism industries, but not technology businesses as much. Thatโ€™s not what Iโ€™ve heard speaking to industry leaders, so I conducted a week-long poll in the Software as a Service SaaS Group on LinkedIn to test the waters.

Of course, this is an unscientific poll, but itโ€™s a good way to get a feel for how things are going in the industry that Futureforth serves - fast-growing technology companies.

Forty-one people voted in my informal poll and the results are in. Forty-nine percent said more people have been quitting, 24% said some people have quit, and 27% said the โ€˜Great Resignationโ€™ hasnโ€™t affected them (yet).

Itโ€™s the 49% number that should be most worrying.
