Do you use the Love to Lead Methodology?

Sean Lane's Love to Lead Methodology

My friend, Greg Cangialosi recently recommended I watch a Betamore YouTube video featuring an interview with his CEO of Olive, colleague, friend, and fellow entrepreneur Sean Lane by Mark Komisky. Olive is an automation company creating the โ€œInternet of Healthcareโ€. I was blown away by the story.

There is a lot to admire about Sean. He took his childhood interest in being a spy and ended up working for the NSA building data dashboards and knowledge graphs.

After witnessing the effects of the Opioid crisis on his hometown in Ohio, he decided to build the โ€œInternet of Healthcareโ€ using his skills gained from his work with the NSA.

Seanโ€™s story is a fascinating one and what he has built will astound you. Heโ€™s taken his company, Olive, from zero dollars to a 4 Billion valuation. I encourage you to watch the video to learn more, but Iโ€™m writing this for you today to share a key thing that stood out to me most - his love to lead methodology.

The Love to Lead Methodology

In the interview, Sean explains that leadership is the most important muscle to build and the most important skill. He goes on to say, โ€œYou have to love in order to lead. You have to love to lead in order to lead.โ€ Itโ€™s clear how much he loves to lead and how effective he is in doing so.

Love is self-explanatory. You love what you do, right? I love to serve leaders of fast-growing technology companies to help them retain their talent and improve their culture. Think about what you love about your business.

Seanโ€™s โ€œLove to Leadโ€ methodology uses an acronym he developed for the word โ€œLOVEโ€.

L. Leadership problem. Everything is a leadership problem. Think about problems through this lens. Everything that seems tactical is still a leadership problem.

O. Otherhood. People feel underappreciated and unrecognized. Always think about the others in your organization.

V. Vision. Bringing the vision to life is an incredible feeling. Everybody likes this. Donโ€™t be selfish about executing your vision, execute everybody's vision in your company.

E. Expectations. All emotions come from expectations. If you wake up angry, itโ€™s because you expected something that didnโ€™t happen the way you had anticipated. Thereโ€™s no such thing as being too crystal clear on sharing your expectations within your organization. Communicate your vision frequently.

Give Seanโ€™s Love Methodology a try with your team to save you the stress and high costs of replacing talent.
